What do you folks reckon? I think there's another Hydra thread floating about with some lovely examples of the many-headed scamp, but this one is a relatively new release.

Has anybody purchased one?

Very nice indeed, and different in style, I like it! I don't have one but I think other people have had no problems with the other models from the Banebeasts line.

I just picked up some Maelstrom figures - and was tempted to purchase that fellow as well.  Maybe next time!

The only thing with Maelstrom's discounts is that they are calculated on the "recommended retail price" and not on the actual retail price, so the actual discount is always less than you would imagine at first.

I am not a big fan of the paint job and it is kind of killing the model for me. If anyone does have one I would love to see it.

Sorry, to me that one looks like a plastacene model, no variation in sharpness where the masses meet, devoid of surface detail.  Could be the paint job I suppose.

Well, I haven't bought it in the end. While there are things about it that I like as opposed to most hydra models, it just doesn't seem to get me really excited.

Reaper does one currently that doesn't look too bad, but I'm still not sure.

It's a bit 'bumpy' but in the context of a hydra it looks pretty cool imo.  It's sometimes nice to see something look a bit organic, as some models can be a bit too clinical.  Some of the other models in that range do bring to mind a certain well known wargame starting in War and ending in Hammer
