Figure check please!
« on: August 10, 2011, 06:08:06 AM »
Hello folks,

Can anyone help me identify the yellow-haired mini in this pic?

Bonus points if anyone can actually identify the crossbowman behind the smoked glass. I certainly don't expect it, but I wouldn't mind knowing.

Please & thanks.

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

That looks like it might well be Froggie's work, and he's a regular contributor to LAF, so odds are he'll be along in good time to answer your question with first-hand knowledge!

It is in fact Froggie's work, if the Froggie in question normally goes by "FroggieTheGreat".

Yep, the one at the front is a conversion I believe but they are both Reaper figs. Froggy would be able to tell you which ones. Drop him a PM if he doesn't chime in soon.
So many projects..... so little time.......

The smoked mirror is a really great idea! Perfect for fantasy or retro sci-fi games!

Oh my.

Yes, this is my work, and I'm quite flattered by the discussion.  Thank you!
Just out of curiousity - where was the image you found originally posted?

To answer your questions:
The mirror is made from a pair of clip-on sunglasses, some nails, and the spindle off the paper towel dispensers at work.

In the front is Reaper's Caerwynn, found here:  http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14116
More detail about what I did, and a hopefully better pic is here:  http://spielorjh.deviantart.com/art/Kaerwynn-Elenlhaw-Eledhrim-63357939

The figure in back is a Vale Archer from Reaper, found here:  http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14357
More detail about what I did, and a hopefully better pic is here:  http://spielorjh.deviantart.com/art/Callista-Moredwen-Eledhrim-62856713

The Brainhound is a converted familiar from Reaper, found here:  http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/14041
Again, better pics here:  http://spielorjh.deviantart.com/art/Brainhound-75979833

Most of these pics were taken two cameras ago, so you have my apologies for their low quality.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

Thanks for the info Froggy. I spotted the image over on Terragenesis.

The one in front caught my eye because I've been looking for a very particular figure for a conversion of an old Mage Knight dial, A barbarian Amazon that's been given over to another faction, and which has been trained and educated. I don't have the original figure itself (which wasn't very good anyway) and must find a nice replacement.

Basically, I'm trying to find a sort of melee huntress or tracker type figure which is of a pretty high sculpt quality (good quality sculpts is how I try to compensate for poor paint skills ;D). The gear is the worst. It needs to be rough and primitive, but not too primitive, so as to show both aspects.

There's some figures that would have done, but I haven't found anything yet that fits just right (or at least comes close enough). There are a number of archers I've seen that might do, but they are not in melee stance and would require conversion - rather like your job.

Probably the best two I've seen are Wyrd Miniatures Viktoria Swordmistress or Hell Dorado's Helle Moeller, but neither quite fit. I am probably just being monstrously picky!  o_o
