Spy-Fi base
« on: 14 August 2011, 11:25:44 AM »
Here's a quick 2x2' set-up with the Ainsty Blast Wall stuff that I plan to use as one of the Quick Play boards at Salute next year. It's a mini version of Overlord's board!

A few pieces to add (maybe a Skywalk ramp to the main door) and a couple of cells to build - but getting there. I hope to get some of this painted in the next couple of weeks.

Well spotted Giraffey ;)

Right - a trip to Halfords and a quick hour getting high from spray fumes and we have everything base coated.

Simple Halfords primers. Red on the floors and doors went straight on.

All the walls were black undercoated first - then grey primer applied on top. IMO this actually gives you a little little bit of shadowing before you start.

I'll give them all a wash next - but not a bad start for a couple of hours work.

Not quite so rapid progress today. Experimented with washes on the doors and walls in one room.

Badab Black too dark, Devlin Mud hardly noticeable TBH.

Extra BB lining on the door recesses, a dry brush of Mach Solar Orange and some metal detailing with good old Mithril Silver.

Broadly happy, but to be honest the spraying did most of the work already. A quick shot:

Nice stuff!  I never really looked at Ainsty's line, but I will have to make a trip overthere.

I've collected loads of their stuff over the years. It's now in new hands and the original designer is back on board. Both very nice chaps. Highly recommended.
