Pulp Australian Show

Hey Guys, channel 9 here in Australia is going to start showing a series called Underbelly: Razor. It details the fued between two female gangsters Kate Leigh and Tilly Devine in Sydney in the 1920's. It's called Razor because the gangs fought with straight razors, there being large penalties for carrying guns at the time. The production company making the series has made another series detailing the gang war in Melbourne in the eighties and nineties and did a great job, so this looks like it will be good too. I don't know if it will be shown overseas but you might like to keep a look out for it.

Cheers,

The Breaker.

The original Underbelly was a great series, I enjoyed it immensely. Looking forward to seeing this one now as soon as it's available on dvd. Thanks for the heads up.

Read the book, Razor: Tilly Devine, Kate Leigh and the Razor Gangs by Larry Writer.

It's a great read and I suspect will have far more detail than will be in the TV series.

What I can't work out is why no-one's tried to do a version of the Shark-Arm Case, the most amazing real-life story in Australian crime annals. Speed boat chases on Sydney Harbour, a shark vomiting up a severed arm with a rope around it in front of hundreds of horrified aquarium visitors, industrial quantities of cocaine. It has everything.

Try this for a precis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark_Arm_case
