Very first introduction dark africa
« on: 23 August 2011, 11:01:15 AM »
I felt in love with this forum for the works from Plynkes, Frank, Driscoles, Admiral Benbow, etc. And some articles in Wargames magazine from Gary Chalk, makes me love the Dark Africa style of game.
I can't resist to show you a very little advance of my work in Dark Africa atmosphere. Not very historic, maybe you find it fantasiesque  ;)
I'm preparing a game based in The Ghost and the Darkness film, with better terrain and miniatures.

 I hope you like it.
More soon.

Hola Mabden, como estas? Bienvenido a LAF.

Sorry that's as much Spanish as i can manage.

I really love how the hut is looking, the designs around the wall are excellent and those miniatures are superb, especially the shields - certainly fantastical, but then, I don't worry so much about historical accuracy. I'd like to see more of this lovely project, please!

Beautiful painting on both the hut and the figures. What figures are those, by the way? I don't recognise them.

Thanks for your kind words Red Orc, your Spanish is in the same scale than my English  ;)
The wall design is take from a modern African hotel, colourful.
I’m not sure about the shields designs, I’m thinking into paint all in zebra pattern.
A great part of this fantasy atmosphere is owing to the fact that I don’t have  miniatures from suitable ranges (except some Copplestone arqueologists).
And then I answer you Plynkes. These miniatures are Games Workshop LOTR plastic UrukHai, face cut down, armour and mail cut down, and some milliput to recreate more muscle if necessary. And using masks and shields to cover some mistakes.

Thankyou all.

Your English is fine, I'm not so sure about my Spanish... Pierrebi doesn't seem impressed!

Fantastic! I knew I'd seen the poses before, but they look very different now!

Looking good.

Así que parece que los hispanoparlantes nos apoderamos poco a poco de LAF, jajaja (inserta risa maquiavélica aquí).

Hope to see more of your work.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Aha! I thought I recognised the poses from somewhere too, but I could not get my brain to make the connection. Very good improvisation.

If you are going to hatch Machiavellian plots, you need to find a more secure code than just speaking to each other in Spanish.  lol

that's innovativ, it's probably the first time someone did Darkest Africa conversions with Games Workshop products :) a cool idea, like it.

The hut is marvelous. Fantastic painting. The figures look good too. Especially the masks.
