What a wargames room the basement would be, though.

Quite interesting.
Probably has a beautiful view now.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Probably a fortune now because even 67 years ago it was worth a bomb.

I'd shell out for it  lol

Did you spot at the bottom of the picture is an elephant?

Is it an elefant or a ferdinand?

I would probably use the basement as a wine cellar.  I was a volunteer at the FortMacArthur Museum for a while before wargaming got in the way.  Our fortifications ran from WWII thru the Nike SAM era.
Weapons ranged from 90mm anti-torpedo boat guns to 16" guns that had a 26 mile range.  There is still a lot of the concrete fortification there.  The guns were all scrapped out by the end of WWII.  If any of you live in Southern California, check out the Museum on a weekend.  The Korean Friendship Bell is built on top of the old 6" gun battery.

They have been growing mushrooms in parts of the Maginot line for years.

Was it used during the construction to move the huge concrete blocks?

Bezzo, that's not the bottom of an elephant,it's the top.

Bloody hell now I'm doing it........ ;D Tusk, tusk.

Joroas,
I do game, and I prefer bourbon, but I've never heard of a bourbon cellar.

Bezzo,
A good shot of Mr Jack's Single Barrel is always appreciated.
Come to think of it, somewhere I have a 54mm Jack from the top of a swizzle stick that needs painting.
