Decoy!
« on: 16 September 2011, 12:42:36 PM »
1 Part of my entry for the S&S painting comp.

The idea came while surfing for information about the Yugoslav Civil War and I found a few shots of various Serbian decoys.

Some were as crude as a metal pole stuck through the windscreen of an old saloon car - from the air that looks suspicious. (BBC News)
So why not?
Base is a S&S Lada, pipe is a piece of brass tube.

And the replacement windshield?

Just one of these.

Vehicle is also used in Samarra as a training tank, they wrecked too many of the real ones

Jimbibbly
By whom? Stevie Wonder? Ray Charles?

Not a lot of forward vision going on.

Actually, I cut out a slit in the front of the sign. You can barely see it in the first pic (I've managed to miss taking a pic from that angle  o_o )

Concering the real ones, just a pipe through the windshield, don't think they were meant to de driven anymore, and purely to decoy NATO targetting systems. Mine is still meant to be driven but mostly as scenery or decoy. Or maybe some Janjaweed militia will actually drive it into battle when they are high enough  lol

Very good question as to whether actual Ladas are driveable. I think the consensus is no.

As to the model, very nice work and a rather clever idea. Great for use as a marker when your spotting check has failed.
