Actually, Vikings did love lavish colours, so they would always use dyed garment in preference to 'natural' wool and linen. As long as one stays clear of too bright/rich ('neon') colours, almost anything goes.
That being said, of course some colours were rather expensive to make (pitch black, rich scarlet, deep purple, for instance), but such fabrics would have been looted when raiding or bought for the spoils of war, and any warrior would grasp any chance to show off his wealth = prowess in battle, anyway.
Actually, flat pink was quite common, as red dye would often not be rich enough to result i scarlet, an wear and salt and sun bleach would take its toll.
