Myself and Thorbjørn (Dr. the Viking) had a couple of games of Skulldred a while back (well over a month back now). My band of adventures were escorting an Arabian merchant and his caravan of dinosaur powered carts and were ambushed by Thorbjørns Hogs. I was well and truely beaten and the merchant and his men taken captive back to the Hog's sty. Here the poor unfortunate and well fed merchant and his men were to be slaughtered for evening dinner - no pork chops here!

(unfortunately I only took one picture worth showing)

A new band of adventurers took to task to rescue the merchant as one he stood last in line with his man being slaughter one a turn. However, the Hogs were hungry and didn't want to share their dinner and beat the adventurers back and gained a little more food for the larder in the bargain.

The meal line.

The fighting starts

Two would-be rescuers are hacked down and the Hog boss slays the Merchant

In addition I've also painted a fair bit over the past month and a half:
A classic Bloodthirster, one of my oldest models, I got it for my 13th birthday making it 19 years old, together with a Dark Elf Lizard rider I got for my 30th, a Barbarian with a Frostfire blade and a few skeletons I nicked from my brother.

Here a couple fo wizards (and a big thanks to Steve who sent the Celtos one to me) with a few adventurers, a thrio of Elf swordsmen and a Celtos Horseman.

I've now got two fairly big warbands. One based around the Celtos Gael minis (mainly painted in greens) with a few woodelves and a Dryad. The other based around a random collection of orcs painted mainly in reds. Then I've got the start of two other warbands one in black and the other in blues and white. I just need some rules for larger warbands as Skulldred seems to bog down a bit at 15+ minis. I'm really looking for something that allows warbands the sort of size seen in the old Realms of Chaos books with a rather random collection of minis allowed that represents my eclectic collection.

Nice additions Duncan! Regarding rule set, how about... Realms of Chaos? =) Or there's a retro clone in the making, attempting to catch the spirit of 3rd edition WHFB.

Thanks for the comments. I have to confess that a certain amount of the insanity in the games was provided by Dr The Viking, but anyone who knows him will probably have guessed that! The Hogs, Arabs and Dino-carts are his, the rest is mine. The ability to mix totally random minis together is what really attracts me to fantasy at the moment.

Re. rules. Realms of Chaos is great, though a little too random for my tastes now and also doesn't really allow for for 'good' warbands. That said I'm very interested to hear more about the retro clone. Also Phoenikuz make round for a cup of tea the other day and we threw around a few ideas for something so lets see what happens with that.

Skulldred 3.3 has rules to solve the fifteen plus bog down.
It has squad rules for realm of chaos size bashes.

Basically a squad is several models in coherency- roll one action dice.  Each action you play, move each squad member.  If a member cannot perform that action, it is ignored for that action.  The squad rolls its attack/spells/shooting once for each seperate target only.
A squad can break up into smaller bits, but each count as an activation.
Basically imagine a squad as a movement tray of six models, but without the tray, and all must be within 2base widths of another at start of activation.

An opponent in contact with more than 1 member from the squad can distribute wounds between them.

Each player gets 6 activations (action dice rolls) per turn, with a squad counting as one.  Place a counter next to moved models or tap cards.  Reset on new turn.

Aaaanyway, releasing that beta soon.

Sounds good Dave. I'll be looking forwards to the 3.3 beta then! It's good the squad rules have got re-worked again.
