This over stocked, half priced, closing down, clearance, end of financial year, camel soiled, sale will not be repeated and at these prices my stocks can not last! I wonder if there's a good way of texturing these? You think printing on something like paper towel is feasible?

I think printing on some kind of low quality paper that is a little grainy may achieve some texture. Paper towel may be a little too rough (and a little hard to get in a printer) for 28mm anyway.
After printing mine, I rolled and scrunched up the paper a bit so they didn't lay completely flat.

Spraymout kitchen towel to A4 sheet and try it on an old or work's printer?

Forget the brand name of it - but you can buy a fuzzy clear spray paint (crafting/scratchbooking stores).  Not sure how fuzzy it is or how much it might cover the color...but worth a look.
