VBCW: Landowners Protection Association
« on: 06 October 2011, 08:18:08 AM »
Hi folks,

I've started another VBCW faction - the L.P.A. - local landowners, gentry and farmers who have banded together for protection - basically modern-day Marcher barons!

More details in my blog - http://hereford1938.blogspot.com/

Or clubbable clubmen?
Back from the dead, almost.

LOL yep! They're only armed with shotguns, so clubbing them is probably an option!  :D

Must learn to read, I kept thinking that it was a nice idea to have a landMowers organisation and then was puzzled why I didn't see any grass cutting devices.  lol

A shotgun's range with birdshot and similar ammo is limited. But if you change the ammo to slugs or something like 'wax slugs' you can reach out to anywhere between 50 and 200 yards quite effectively. Such ammo is relatively easy to concoct and I have read accounts where Home Guard units did so for the shotguns they had in the early days of WW2.
 Modern slugs
e.g.

 Home made Wax slugs

Ssshhh, don't tell anyone that - I'm banking that my opponents will make the fatal mistake of underestimating them LPA...  ;)

That's what we use to hunt boar with in this part of the world. Plus they may be 'Drillings' i.e. they may have a third 7,5 mm rifle pipe cleverly hidden between and under the shotgun barrels.  :)

They are a great set of figures. Very evocative, and usable for all sorts of things I'm sure.
