Remember this?

I used to love this building when I was younger.
So, I made one for my current toys to play in  :)

That brings back memories. Me and my brother had this one, the desert one and the jungle house on stilts. The jungle one, because of its weedy thin legs didn't last all that long, bit the other two went on for years and years before finally giving out.

I also had the smaller scale Waterloo set. That one saw many battles too.

Nice work there. There's no stopping you.

I have similar fond memories, Plynkes, Matakashi. Me and my friend Jonas had quite sizeable Airfix armed forces of roughly 2000 with him as a field- and air marshall and me fieldmarshall and First Sea Lord with our cats as staff colonels.

That outpost was one of the crowning pieces in my collection; it stood so much prouder on the battle field than those rather crudely executed Airfix coastal batteries. I think that outpoast got me into making dioramas.

Good grief - always wanted to get those and never did, all those years ago... had piles of troops from an Italian co. which made toy soldieras, can't remember the name - no, hang on, Atlantic. Those were the days - they had boxes with frames of troops and plastic fortifications and stuff. SIgh.

Anyway - nice work Matakashi - and a nice tribute piece too :)
Now print a smal size pic of the box art, make it look like a calendar and hang it inside  :)

Yep. I had one too. I always placed a german soldier just under the roof lying on the first floor exposed piece of timber. :)
I really liked the north african building they did as well, mine also saw service in the old west :)  I agree with Poly, the jungle house was easily broken.
A very nice copy Matakishi :)

Well, I'm pleased to inform you, you can still get this. Under their new management, Airfix seemed to have re-released pretty much their entire range, including the various buildings. I'm sure I saw this in a local model shop just the other day, along with the (original) D-Day gun emplacement (the one with the revolving sproing gun that fired matchsticks) and the pontoon bridge set of blessed memory!

Ah, happy days...

Yes, you can even get the 'Wagon Train' again... Joy :)

I

The one with the MG34? Snap!

I had some great fun with the Germans holding out against the Allied attackers I used the old Donald Featherstone skirmish wargames book. They are still very enjoyable rules :D

IIRC, they did one in 1/72 as well as the Desert & Waterloo sets.........

Fabulous I remember having one as well - the only thing this won't have is the faint smell of the plastic
