Half Timbered House Sketches?
« on: October 08, 2011, 10:00:13 AM »
Hi everyone! I am at the end (not really) of a project about modular bits for fantasy buildings, and now i'm looking for half timbered houses drawings and blueprints.

I already have a lot of photos, but i think that drawings are much better to give the idea and the concept of a building.

Has anyone some link or nice pic? :) :)

Thanks guys, i will really appreciate it! =)

Cheers
Jack

A couple of links that I found searching for 'vernacular architecture':

http://www.buildinghistory.org/style/vernacular.shtml

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=vernacular+architecture&hl=en&sa=G&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=eLiej9CU4enWSM:&imgrefurl=http://www.hvva.org/hvvanews5-3.htm&docid=W27fnJOEZAhyfM&w=1363&h=760&ei=WoiRTsf1ONSz8QPMk8AX&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=240&page=1&tbnh=71&tbnw=127&start=0&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=63&ty=38&biw=1024&bih=550

The Weald and Downland Museum (a building museum in Southern England):

http://www.wealddown.co.uk/ - there are French, German and Dutch pages, but no Italian, sorry.

There is a very good introductory guide to timber framed buildings in the UK called 'Discovering Timber Framed Buildings' by Richard Harris, published by Shire. You should be able to pick up a second-hand copy on the net for a few Euros - my copy was £5 new.

And a gallery at Terragenesis, compiled by some idiot called 'Red Orc', whoever he is... for a more gamer-orientated take on medieval/early modern architecture - http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/gallery/gallery.php?album=331

Hope some of these links and suggestions are helpful.

...or would be, if he'd made them instead of just collecting other people's photos! Sadly, I'm a crap terrain maker, and only a passable librarian.
