Ninja says theres a gunna be a hanging!
« on: 17 October 2011, 04:59:51 AM »
One random day I discovered several of my models had committed terrible acts of debauchery and unmentionable evil. They were sentenced to hang until dead and then I realized….I had no gallows! Well I figured I would have to get to work whilst my minis’ lawyers went through the appeals process.

I took a very long time to decide what kind of stairs I wished to build to reach my platform (this is why the pros always talk about the planning stages!) I finally settled on a sturdy but ascetically pleasing design that would require a unique rise and run.

I had to make a choice on the look of the crossbeam, as this would have a rather large impact to the feel/period of the piece. I tried to go as neutral as possible so that it would look good for several different games.

I knew I wanted to plank the gallows myself so give it a used and rickety feel. I had some coffee stirs available and went to work add grain texture to the whole model before I started planking it.

I had left the project out for a few days when I friend came over and asked me a very critical question as to whether or not I was man enough to make the gallows functioning….as a ninja I felt compelled to comply to the challenge! I placed to runner boards across the bottom of the platform to hold the trap in place.

I then inserted two holes on opposite ends of the base to hold up two lengths of wire. One piece became permanent with a tube running across it. I would later attach the trap to this tube. The other wire was removable to the trap would fall forward and the models would drop down.

I added ropes to hang from the crossbar and tested it several times to ensure it works! I plan on priming and painting it over the course of this week as my minis have used their last appeals…..

Comments and questions welcome! I have not decided yet on a color scheme!

Don't forget the lever to pull the trap.

Hmm yes a lever would be a solid idea to the project, I might even call it critical!

This is indeed a fine model project, even though the obsession with attention to detail and interest in the subject is slightly disturbing ;-)

Well it must be to specification or I will have the miniature rights activists claiming I am inhumane to my minis!

Seriously impressive!  :-*

I may have to steal YOUR idea this time.

Consider it stolen, (or Ninja'd)!!!

Very nice, if but a little creepy! I love the grain detail you carved into the wood. :D
