Statue W.I.P New face
« on: November 30, 2011, 03:28:34 PM »
Hi Everyone

I thought this might also be suitable here in the fantasy section as it could be used as a statue to some Goblin or Amphibian God  :)

I started sculpting it the other day using left over putty I had.
I cant decide if like it or not  :?  I am going to finish it and see what it ends up like.

There are more photo's here

What do you think?

Scale shot

Thanks
George

Stunning start!

Would like to see where you go with this one, maybe a little 'darker'?

Really bizarre looking, I like it quite a bit. Not quite friendly, not quite evil... seems like something from the 'fey' world... Pan's Labyrinth or something.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Hi,

I've changed the face  :o,

The clay has not been cooked yet so it is easily removed and put back to how it was before  :)

What do you think, an improvement?

Thanks
George

Yeah that looks better, quite spooky in a charming sort of way.

I left a comment over on the Cthulhu section, but another here wouldn't hurt.
I LOVE them both; an either or situation is too difficult for moi. The first version has a serene, Buddha like quality, while the newer version has a sad, forlorn look to him/her/it.

The change makes all the difference. I was going to suggest losing the nose, but maybe the new mouth makes up for it. But the biggest improvement are the wrinkles under the eyes!

I think the second face is reminicent of the dog-alien in the closet from Evolution.

I agree with Dr M that there is a sense of 'fey' about both incarnations.  Maybe you could go a bit 'Froudian' with it?

I'd say the new face needs something around the mouth.  The rest of the face is wrinkled and characterful and the mouth just looks like a slit.

Actually, I'd vary the wrinkles some more, and maybe make the chin area more haggard.

I prefer the knowing smirk of the first version, the second looks like a grumpy old man :)
