Dee's Chaos Blood Bowl Team + Stadium
« on: 24 October 2011, 12:09:49 AM »
Myself and a few mates have decided to start playing blood bowl as I managed to get my hands on the old 2nd edition moulded pitch.

As I hate the GW teams I thought I would make my own :)

this is them so far

I like them a lot, I have a box of gors and ungors bought on a whim that I probably won't do anything else with, I could see myself trying something like this. Thanks for sharing your ideas, they're motivating!
(Where'd that minotaur come from? Its brilliant!)

Thanks pal.  The Minotaur is from maelstrom's banelords http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?act=pro&pre=mae_blg_bnl_cha_007_000 which are some of the finest resin models I have seen to date.

Can't wait to see them painted up!  They haven't got anything Chaos, but have you seen Willy's Miniatures for some really nice and unusual not-BB models?

Perhaps the odd out-stretched hand could do with a football or two?
And i noticed you haven't gone for the regulation turf playing surface... not exactly Wembley ;)

Yes mate I have seen them best looking BB minis out there, sadly so few to choose from, I was originally going with Norse and was going to use his ulfwerener models sadly some of the norse sculpts out there leave a little to be desired and as this is a fun side project I didn't want to spend hours upon hours converting decent models like the Red Box Games norse looking guys into blood bowl players I also didn't want to spend loads of cash buying say gaspez arts models to convert them either so that pissed on that fire as I love Norse teams.

nah the outstretched hands are those attempting to catch the ball mate and having played with chaos before it is highly unlikely that ball will be in their hands more like in the square next to them, they are more about pounding the opponent into a pulp and then walking the ball to the endzone for a 1-0 win.  I am however going to put a ball in the hand of the gor to the far right of the picture as he has a "just scored a touchdown" feel to him.  And dont worry about the bases mate I will sort something appropriate out for them when the entire team is built and painted.

Thanks guys, same although this project will be going along at a snails pace until I have finished sculpting/painting my Nurgle Warshrine.  I will however be making all 16 members of the team ASAP.

out of curiosity how does he keep track of mutations on his players in a league just make a note or does he have certain specific models for certain mutations?

For my skaven team, the mutants I've got I just wrote along the edge of the base, like all the other skills they gain. That way I can just look at a model and know what it has, rather than have to cross reference them with my team sheet. You could do something similar, and you'll probably do it better!

thats good thinking mate, thanks, also allows me to be a little more creative with my gors maybe one with a few too many arms or heads :)

I guess you could always mangetise arms and heads if you wanted to really "go for it" (sorry - couldn't resist the pun!)

Thats terrible....to the naughty step with you!!!

Great models, that minotaur puts GW's recent such creations to shame (not hard I know).  The Warhammer plastics tend to look quite good as BB models, they have much more dynamism than most of the old BB models.  The old models are fine for what they are but not showcase material by any stretch of the imagination.

Looking forward to seeing the team develop, and especially seeing what the stadium turns out like!  I've got the polystyrene pitch somewhere, it's in decent condition other than some juvenile 'graffiti' on some squares... to a 12 year old boy it was very amusing, so it's surprising that I don't find it funny now.  Will you be painting the pitch?

Nice work so far.
Made my team the same way, shamefully came never around to paint them ::)
I used also Zombie-hands, like you, and also bits from some plastic Skavens and Chaos Barbarians.
