Graboids!
« on: 28 November 2007, 04:10:05 AM »
I'm a huge fan of the Tremors series and part of the draw of LotOW for me was Tremors 4. I plan on working up some graboid-like rules, any suggestions for models?

I've found what looks like a great one from Mongoose's Starship Trooper range, but would love to see others.

Now my mate sold off his WIP of a graboid (cacique Carib) recently so I only hope it is put into production, I will find out what was going to happen with that and report back

Nice, the first thing that came to mind was the DDM Purple worm.  The Rafam Cthonian might not be a bed idea either.  I don't know how easy it is to get old Call of Cthulhu figures though...

I think it is a modified purple worm, but they are getting rare now.

how about toys from the old Dune movie?????

I have an old citadel worm somewhere - similar to the reaper one but not such a nasty "head". I will see if I can dig it out.

Years ago, Geometric Designs produced an extremely detailed 'Tremors' model kit, which I have somewhere in my workshop. It depicts two worms, one 'swimming' through the surface of the ground, the other one reared up with mouth open and tentacles, ahem, swinging. Sadly, it is now OOP.

When I read Your post, I tried to find some pics, but Google found nothing...
The kit itself is made of white resin, while the tentacles and upper halves of the mouth are white metal.

Scale is roughly 80mm, might sound a bit large, but the worms differed very much in size IIRC. I planned to do a project based on them, too and found them quite OK with Thunderbolt Mountain's 'The Gamers', which are true 25mm scale. After all, they are MONSTERS, so they have to be huge, do they not?

This kit is extremely beautiful, I can seriously recommend it. Do not hesitate if You ever come across it.

Great suggestions, all!

Prof.Witchheimer, is that the worm from Empire Strikes Back.  Regardless, where do I get me one?  :)

Lowtardog, who's your mate, and who would be producing the models?
Looking forward to your report!

It's a repaint from the D&D line of miniatures IIRC.

They also make a "Grick" that is similar to a graboid.

It looks to be about man-sized. So maybe a little small.

The purple worm is found here:

It's in the War of the Dragon Queen set

Edit: Not affiliated with them in any way shape or form ... but the Purple Worm is being sold at TrollAndToad.com for 4.99 (which seems like a good deal to me).
And the Gricks are being sold for about 1.25

Here was the progress he had made before he sold it on, I am waiting for Dan to come back with what has happened with it?
