Atacar es Vencer! [Advance on Madrid]
« on: October 28, 2011, 07:21:33 AM »
Hi, in addition the figures i've been working on, one of the guys has a huge SCW collection ... so, we're going to work through the Iron Ivan Spanish Civil War Campaign book using Disposable Heroes.

Scenario 1: Arrow through Andalusia

The Nationalists leave Seville and begin its drive on Madrid. The strategy is to race towards the Capital along the main highways until they counter resistance by a town or village. If the village did not respond to surrendering if hailed [and where would the fun be for us gamers then] then ...

A small section of Civil Guard are ordered to lead the advance in their Bilbao. They have unfinished business here having encountered the rebellious rabble in this village before

The HMG and LMG sections from the 2nd truck unload ready to put down supporting fire. But where are the Militia? A solitary shot rings out from one of the buildings and pings harmlessly off the Armoured Car. One of the Guarda smiles grimly

A 2nd shot comes from the building on the Legion's far right and penetrates the thin armour of the Bilbao. There's a stunned silence from the Civil Guard within but before they can react the petrol tank ruptures engulfing the vehicle in flames and its occupants. There are no survivors.

Great game James! Keep 'em coming.

BTW have you seen that FOA is expanding their SCW range with some really nice figures?

Follow this thread James http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=33367.0

A new? sculptor called Jinx has started, aside from a few character figures, on a new range to complement the existing FOA one.
Figures look really great.
If I understood correctly the first five will be infantrymen in gorillo and granadero (summer dress) complete with LMG and HMG teams.
Somewhat later followed by the same but converted infantrymen but in guerero jacket, again with LMG and HMG teams. Really hope he'll eventually expand the infantrymen to 10 different or so, but I guess that will depend on people (us!) buying them in sufficient numbers.

Seeing the Bilboa go up in flames in front of them, and effectively blocking the road, the order is quickly given for the Legion to disemark from the 1st truck. Meanwhile, the Militia with its Platoon Commander reveals itself in the house to the left of the destroyed ACar and open fire

On the right hand side of the road, another Militia pelaton open fire. What to do?

A mi La Legion!!

The Legionnaires give their cry out for a assistance 1st and 2nd Escuadra rush to their Teniente & Command Section's aid. They assault the building on their left. The Milita put down withering fire and three Nationalists bite it.

Hand to hand is bloody and brief, after the Militia test to storm in. Grenades help here. The Miitia Commander and his squad are wiped out but they take a heavy toll on the Legion with 2 members (fighting is simultaneous here) from each section dieing in the struggle

[i forgot to take photos!!]

Here the LMG section rush to the barricades after the 3rd Militia Section and sniper show themselves on the house on the hill ..

Hi HMStanley

I've got one of those Jinx figures, John of FOA gave it to me a while back (same time as that AC you painted up!). I'll bring it along next time. I'll introduce you to Jinx as well. ???

Nick, my man!! I didn't realise you were on here

re Jinx - please do. I can work on him to scuplt a LMG & HMG set for the Assaltos  lol

I'm going to have to have one of your Sombrero wearing LMG wielding Militia figures too.

I enjoyed the game - thanks. Looking forward to the next one: The Bridge of Conquerors

James
