Empress Miniatures Female LMG Gunner - any problems?
« on: November 08, 2011, 10:29:04 PM »
About ten days ago I ordered some Spanish Republican units from Empress Miniatures including the LMG female militia team for use in my VBCW army and today they arrived.  Now the figures are expertly sculpted (but then I think they're by Paul Hicks so that's to be expected) but with the machine gunner I had to cut away the base in order to make the machine gun rest on the stand and barrel that come with the gunner.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi There,

I've just been checking, and this figure was really designed to be based together with the barrel/stand. Thus the barrel/stand is a base depth lower than the figure (when based together the assumption was that the figure's base would be submerged under groundwork.

I just checked the website and I noticed that the stand for the machine gun isn't quite touching the barrel, so you've got it right about the basing assumption.  Still it strikes me as a very odd way of going about things.  That said though I've no other complaints and will probably buy from them again.

I know I'm right about the basing ... I helped design the pack  :D. If you aren't basing them together, then popping a penny or a bit of plastic-card under the barrel/stand will do the job.

We'll take your comments on board for any similar packs in future, and I'm glad you like the rest of the figures.

Or bend the Bipod to meet the barrel would have been easier ;). Thanks for the comments on the sculpting.

Are we talking about this mini?  :o :o

If yes, I would love to have all minis fit as good as this!
 ;) ;)
Maybe put some miliput are whatever under the barrel and base it all together on a bigger base?
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

The LMG gunners assistant looks like one of the characters from Land and Freedom, the one who ends up a cook!

Is the figure on the left blubbing?  Typical woman!

I used a resin barrel I had hanging around- I think it was Fenris Games. It was a perfect fit.
