15mm Rogue Trader: First try out for Imperial guard color scheme
« on: November 15, 2011, 08:34:25 AM »
Hi,

I have tried to figure out a color scheme for my Imperial guard troops for a long time. Now I decided that the game board will be a mars themed one, so I tried to paint something that would fit into that. here's my first attempt.

I'm quite happy with the results. Little more detailing and it should be fine. Any suggestions are welcome though! The base is not ready yet, and only has one layer of terracotta brushed on. I will post more pics to my blog later and go into more detail about my plans.

really nice miniature! I'd work more on the base, you should use a really fine sand mixed with even more thin powder (like dry plaster) to make a realistic ground!
and i love the sniper optics!

hehe thanks :D

As I mentioned in my first post "The base is not ready yet," :) It has been coated with filler only and basecoated with Terracotta. That fine sand idea was good! Thanks I will try that. that should give it more texture.

Looks good to me.  I think it is perfect for a Mars themed force.  Now it has me thinking of all the Khurasan Federals I have here waiting to get painted.

Thanks Jeff,

I got tons of Feds unpainted also.. when I moved into the 15mm world I thought that painting would be so much faster than with the 28mm figs....but no...it's equally slow for me  lol

Mine will never be fast, but at least I now complete figures.  My 28mm worlds were littered with partially painted figures.  Lots of primer color forces got really boring on the battlefield.  Now I get things painted and have little time to actually play a game.
