Moving to Vancouver
« on: December 01, 2011, 04:34:02 AM »
Hi, folks

I'm probably moving to Vancouver BC in December or January, and looking for some new friends to play with!  I'm likely to be on the North Shore (as the office is located in North Van) but I'll be able to move around.

My gaming interests are pretty eclectic and include or have included colonial (NWF/Central Asia), pulp adventures, old west, ancients, WWI.  I'm currently staring at the black hole of Napoleonics and will be prepared to leap in deeper or be talked out of it, depending on how things go.

I'll be arriving in Vancouver in mid-December but probably won't be available for anything until the new year.

cheers

Will

Getting back into gaming in the New Year means you'll be nicely up to speed for Trumpeter Salute 2012 at the very end of March - http://www.trumpetersalute.com/

We had a pretty good LAF turnout last year, at least half a dozen of us, a number of whom got into my pulp game on the Saturday (amongst other fine offerings)!

I know the Trumpeter club meet monthly, I believe at the same Bonsor Centre at Metrotown they hold the convention in. There is a fairly active gaming community around Vancouver, someone who's actually a local should be along shortly to give more detail - I'm from overseas, ie Victoria, myself.

Thanks, Wirelizard.  There's a small chance that I could end up in Victoria; I might have a job interview there in a couple of weeks!  Even if I don't I still get in to visit from time to time as my mom lives on Saltspring.

Even though I am south of the border, I used to game up there frequently. I know that ther is a very active gaming community in the Vancouver metro area. Many of them come down here for Enfilade. They are always looking for fresh meat up there, I'm sure some of them will be in touch with you in no time. BTW welcome to the forum & perhaps we will meet in person in the future. I keep telling my self I am going to make it up for Trumpeter/Salute again.

Thanks, Herby.  I've actually been around the forum for a little while now, but I'm not a particularly prolific poster...  I'll keep an eye out for Enfilade announcements!

Well, if one way or another you find  yourself in need of a game in Victoria, join us on Victors, which is one of the area's strongholds for historical and anything-but-GW gaming. There's a small group that meets every Sunday up at the University of Victoria and plays all sorts of things.

(I'm Wirelizard over there too, just to make me easy to track)
