Having watched this, the fighting is all straightforward Balkan stuff. Itdoesn't suggest anything particular for a British setting. It is very clearly set in Bosnia or somewhere.
Funnily enough, at the box office they kept asking if punters realised it was Shakespeare.Apparently, because it has been marketed so heavily as an action film, angry chavs are storming out and demanding their money back when they hear the cast spouting blank verse.(Maybe some others think it's a porno).
It's good, and Vanessa Redgrave is brilliant. The limited release has been disappointing, and the box office has been lamentable. At least it got a wider release than a lot of things do. The Australian Macbeth got a week in Hornchurch. the Battle for Warsaw 1920 got a week in Jersey.
they do this sometimes because they believe a film is aimed at a niche audience, and will sell almost entirely on DVD, but they have acontractual clause which specifies that they have to have some sort of cinema release. they stick it on somewhere where no-one will see it, and then release the DVD a few months later.
A very good film of Coriolanus, not much inspiration for new departures in wargaming, I preferred Richard III on both counts.
