Poundland Tron vehicles
« on: December 28, 2011, 10:27:45 PM »
Poundland currently has some Tron vehicles including aircraft (1 & 3 man versions).
The aircraft look suitable for 15mm SF aircover.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

If you can get any of the lightcycles from the last movie, they make great scout bikes for Hasslefree's Grymn.  :)

They had quite a variety of stuff, bikes, cars, the "Recogniser".
Haven't looked in since Wednesday though

The one at the Metro centre only had three in.The did have some Dragons in and acrylic metallic paint in.Picked up three paints as they are big tubes so work out much cheaper than GW or other makes.

saw them today. They had the full range
The bikes look kinda big .
The command ship would look good in something like Full Thrust and is still useful in 6mm or even 15mm
The light runner looks very nice could be useful in 15mm,20mm or maybe 28mm
cheers

I also saw them today.  they look like they could be of use to Spaceship or Sci-Fi modellers and gamers.

The Redditch store had stock of the two flying ships, the command tank and some others.

I picked up a couple to check sizes, and reckoned the closed bike (Kevin Flynn's Light Cycle) would be fine for 28mm civilian transport.

When I went back in the following weekend, all the Tron models had gone :(

However, I've just found some in the Works, so that's another place worth checking if you can't find them. They are £1.99, as opposed to £1, but still pretty cheap for what you get.

I think The Entertainer toy stores in the UK sell these off cheap (around a pound) every now and then as well when they try to clear out old stock.

edit : there's a flash heavy site at http://www.spinmaster.com/tron/#/index. If you click enough (product website, then click the right pointing arrows about 7 or 8 times until you get to "1:50 die cast assortment". The pictures are tiny, but you should get an idea of the shapes.

The ones that I have are, using Hasslefree's Jess as reference:

Kevin Flynn's Light Cycle

LightRunner. This is a bit too small for 28mm, but I reckon it's close enough, and fine for a background vehicle

Recogniser. Really not sure what to do with this, but it makes a futuristic gateway :)

3 Man Jet. No reference figure, but it's about 125mm wingtip to wingtip and 55mm nose to tail. I had thought about it for 6mm SF, as a very large bomber, but I'm not so sure now

The 3-man jet paints up nicely as a near future drone.

The works do also stock the Tron stuff, but they are selling them at £1.99 (Coventry) & £2.99 (Rugby), I have visited various local poundlands and been able to get one or two models at a time. No-one in the shop could say why they only ever have a few out at a time.
