I have been doing a whole range of masters, from AFV tools up to a kit to convert the Matchbox Silver Ghost into an Rolls Royce ARmoured Car.

Put this one together as a prototype. Its 2 Sqn RAF ARmoured CArs, Iraq 1941.

I need to work on the masters a bit more - wheel hubs need doing and doubling up at the rear and so on. But here it is:

Nice model. No1 Armoured Car Company (not Squadron) RAF was at RAF Habbaniya and equipped with Rolls Royce Armoured cars like yours. For accuracy you may wish to change the door badge.

No2 Armoured Car Company was brought from the Western Desert and formed part of KINGCOL the lead element of HABFORCE which drove from Palestine to Transjordan then over the desert to Habbaniya. The company was equipped with Fordson Armoured Cars which were Rolls Royce bodies on Fordson Chassis (shorter bonnet). The Turret armament was increased by the addition of a Boys Anti-Tank Rifle and a variety of AA MGs on the roof.

I was speaking to veteran of No2 Company (who would kill me if he knew I had accendtially refered to it as Squadron). He told me about them being issued with Rollers that were taken away to Egypt to have the bodies replaced with Fordsons. He thought they were identical. I am glad you have cleared up the difference.

As to the turret I am mastering a second one at present (that one, as you have spotted is more WW1). I need to master a Lewis gun too (which will come in handy for my LRDG Chevies anyway). In Iraq I think Kingcol had pintol mounted Lewis guns on some cars as well.

I also want to do new front wheel bumpers and hubs.

I wlll post photos of this kit and the conversion soon.

WIP request - I have not got any shots of the conversion but here is a shot of the origonal Matchbox model and my kit (without lower turret part - need to get some more cast).

hope this helps. Easiest way to get one is ask me to make you one - any unit or spec - £78.50 as a finished piece.

I added this shot to the photobucket album and I think it has broken the link - a new one posted above.

I also mastered the jerry cans, antenna base and stowage boxes that are on it.

I now have quite a range of accessories - are people interested in buying accesory kit in 28mm for their models? If so I really should get a website.

I could list what I have if anyone wants.

The No 2 Company cars carried a variety of AA weapons - single and twin Vickers K Guns, Lewis. Sqn Ldr Cassano had twin Vickers K guns on his car.
