With a few exceptions the trade side of things looked more akin to a flea market. True, there were some nice bits - Critical Mass, Crooked Dice, Ainsty and Hasslefree, but there was no vim and vigor, no glow if you will.

No games really caught my eye. They were just 'games'. Granted, they were participation games but they just didn't move me, a man of very varied tastes.

It's a sad day when I can walk into a 'do' with £500 burning a hole in the pocket and leave with £474 still scorching the flesh. And believe me I tried, Lord knows I tried.

The carrier bags full of tat were a hinderance. I know of 6 lots that were just thrown away.

As my wife said an hour ago (and bear in mind we did our time in the business) 'I feel ready for a Sunday. It's a day unfulfilled'

As an aside the web page needs to be corrected as it states a 30mm figure will be on offer etc... But that is an aside as I say.

For me, now it's York,Sheffield,Newark,Newark,Derby' the Newark betwixt York and Sheffield alas must be no more.

Even Dozing Dragon was not on his staircase. He mugged me in public. I ask you...

This is MY opinion, MY experience. It may not be yours and I respect that, so please do likewise.
If you intend to bugger about in the time stream, dress accordingly!

I simply asked what made the experience dreadful for you, nothing more, no need to get tetchy. :)

Sorry, you misunderstand me. I was merely underscoring that it was my own personal experience. I was not particularly aiming it at you, just trying to keep things civil. I do so hate flame wars... They drain my creative essence.

I was merely making my response to your request, a general one.  :)

I am currently curing the malaise by spending 300 or so with Copplestone.

There was nothing inspiring there for me, aside from the people of course  ;)

I spent no money whatsoever. Actually, that's not true, I bought a cup of tea and the worlds smallest 'quarter-pounder'.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Gotta admit I went more to catch up with people I don't see very often, if i manage to spend some money it's a bonus, even more so if it's spent on figures and not just books  ;)

*BURP*!

'Scuse me, the onion rings seem to be fighting the chilli.

What made me laugh was the 'exclusive' 6mm figure with 'Derby 2011' on the insert.

I'll paint it yellow and use it as an idol somewhere outside Katmandu  >:(

My wife said of it... 'I drove you at 90mph for THAT?'

She is of course very forgiving.

Dozing Dragon if there will be stuffing his face with chips on the stairs in the foyer... And not putting on a single ounce!

;)

Not a single chip eaten you blaggard  ;)

Enjoyed meeting up with people but it was a little like the biscuit advert, one bite and it was gone. Didn't say 'hello' to as many people as I would have liked (socially inept memory, I can't interrupt a conversation going on and forget to go back and introduce myself.... :()

Met up with Mark and a couple of Frothers. Didn't say goodbye to Ainsty which was rude, I must pm and apologise - head in the clouds at the mo' with the remants of night shifts.....

Do we know what happened to the 'exclusive' Mantic figure? I forgot to ask although I was talking to Bryan at the show for ages!

A sad day indeed... Dave you need to keep the chip level up at your age or you'll waste a way.  ;D

Had an ok day
The plus side - picked up a couple of 'Bunker' bookings on the back of the Dr Who game & Dave Thomas gave me a good price on a copy of SAGA
The negative side - some twat nicked 2 of my vintage Daleks off the table & a little darling smashed some of the terrain
We managed to play 1 game - people seem to be put off by the amount of terrain(did not GW say that terrain got in the way of the game...) Maybe I will stick to a green cloth & a couple of plastic hills in future!

Not at all pissed off
Shaun
I spent alot of money on strong drink & toy soldiers - the rest I just wasted...
