Wisecrack, I shall dub you Wart. You are young and named Arthur and if you don't know the reference, then you are directed to read "The Once and Future King" forthwith.

Here are a couple of hints for taking photos of your minis.

1. Use your camera's macro mode. In most cameras the icon for this is a tulip or flower. At that point, you'll need to keep the lens about 8" from the object being photographed. This'll bring it into focus. This will also make it sensitive to shakes and motion blur, so the thing to do is to set the self-timer. That way your finger on the trigger won't bobble the camera.

2. Turn off your flash. Light your mini using a separate lighting source. Two small flashlights, one on either side of the camera, will work wonders. These will provide constant lighting so you don't need to use your camera's flash. Flashes wash out the picture into a light-colored blur.

Check out this: http://www.twfigurines.de/main/workshop/photos.htm, which is a good introduction to photographing your figures, and written by a certified Painting God to boot.

You did a great job on the conversion, and it looks like it's going to be awesome in games! I just wanted to see it a little clearer.

Nice work, but another source for animals (and possibly cheaper) is the ready-painted D & D miniatures from Wizards of the Coast.

You get a lot of them sold singly on ebay - often for only 50p each or less, the latest set includes swarms of large red ants (could be useful for Wild West games) swarms of scarab beetles (very handy for Pulp and anything Egyptian), but other figures include crocodiles, snakes, bears (celestial black bear is quite good) hunting lions (quite good cougars) wolves and eagles.
They can be re-painted, or just improved by a decent ink wash.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)
