1 vs. 2...
« on: 20 January 2012, 02:53:14 PM »
Well...
I have heard a lot about the 2nd ed that is out now...

But...

I have 1st ed, is the 2nd ed that much better?  Is it worth the change over?

Pros and cons would be appreciated.
Thanks.

When 2nd Edition was released I wrote up a fairly long review that focused largely on the changes between 1st & 2nd Ed.

The system is still recognisably 45 Adventures, but it's cleaned up and streamlined. The biggest change is that instead of "d10 +this -that" it's now a "fistfuls of d10" game, where you generally add or subtract whole d10 instead. So what used to be a "+1 bonus" is now a "+1d10 bonus".

The heroes are tougher, the mooks are more fragile but more versatile.

And lately I  haven't been playing it at all, having been distracted by other things!

I had ed 1 along with several supplements but I bought ed 2 when it came out.
I agree with Wirelizard that it has been streamlined and cleaned up but, in doing so, I fear that important bits have been missed out.
I've decided to stick with ed 1.
I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.
