No, not the French Foreign Legion going up against the Anglo-Egyptian army. Though I might have a go at that one day.
What I'm after is your insight in to which period offers the greater versatility as far as gaming scenarios go? I have plenty of figures for both armies and six different native armies: bedouin, toureg, "western" arabs, "eastern" arabs, ansars, and hadendowah. Just trying to decide which one I want to launch into first when I get to that point. So, gents and ladies, which do you feel offers the most - the French Foreign Legion in Northwest Africa or the Anglo-allied army against the Mahdists in the Sudan? And, if we may, the Nile is not the deciding factor with its gun boats because the French had incidents with ships along the shores of the Mediterranean so, in my book, that balances out.
Thanks for your input.
(the eastern and western arab is just my own designation and guide to how I will paint them)
