LOTR advanced orders
« on: January 28, 2012, 05:55:56 PM »
Although not a big finecast fan, I thought these would peak someone's interest.

The forces of good:

Gondor Commanders

Rohan Commanders

Galadhrim Commanders

Dwarf Commanders

I pretty like the Esterling one and Rohan and Dwarfs ones aren't that bad, even if these minis aren't definetly my cup of tea. LOTR figs range can't stand the WFB one IMO. So less detailed...
BTW as always on threads related to gw: 1) finecrap: the gw resin miniatures are an epic fail in quality. I have seen in flesh about 5 finecast minis and NO ONE was a good cast. 5/5 miniatures that were worst than their previous versions. I think I won't buy finecast 2) every single command set (four figures) you have posted cost 31€. I think they are crazy.

31€??? need a jaw on the floor smilie.
Other that that I do think that the LoTR range is the best GW currently do, though that said I don't have any of them.

For most of these 4-model sets, 3 of them are just resin versions of common existing models and the remaining one is a totally new sculpt. This concept was rigorously tested and calculated by GW to provide maximum frustration to their existing player base (which is pretty much their raison d'etre.)

Spare a thought for those of us in far-flung places like Japan and Australia. Each of these sets works out to around $70 here. Preposterous. eBay for the old metal models it is.

Australia gets smashed by GW for pricing, comparatively we pay the most for their products. If I buy anymore of their stuff it'll be on ebay or discount stores.

I really cannot catch the sense of this. Isn't it a bad market strategy for GW? Maybe it's me but I think this is senseless. Obviously a lot of australians won't buy they stuff at this price just like The Breaker said.

Case in point, those packs retail in OZ for $66 ($16.50 a figure!!!!), with free shipping from Maelstrom they would be about $30.

Anyone still not understand why they ban international sales to OZ?

Yep, the pricing here is majorly scary. I checked the new plastic Easterling cavalry thinking wow, fantastic, I hate assembling the metal ones I'll get more plastics instead. $61 for 6 plastic cavalry, epic fail. I love the range, and won't be buying any finecast personalities, but even the plastic pricing scares me to death now. I have about 2k LOTR figs mostly second hand, my collection is dead in the water for the last year or so due to pricing.
