KKBB minis and other spy goodness (Now with Shaft...)
« on: 07 February 2012, 03:20:52 AM »
I've been in a Bond mood of late, so guess what I've been painting. Some of these are actually older minis that I've re-based recently.

First off we have Bond with a lovely female associate and a gentleman from S.H.A.D.O.. Bond is a Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang mini. The girl is from Chronoscope. The gentleman is from Crooked Dice.

Next up we have a few named bad guys. There's Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Pussy Galore, and the guy in the awful green suit is supposed to be Mother from the Avengers. OK, so Mother isn't a bad guy. I had to put him somewhere. These are all from the KKBB line.

Next up we have a number of random spy characters who will be filling in the cast lists. All from the KKBB lines.

And finally we have a small group of guards in berets. I went with orange and black because it matched Stromberg's men from 'The Spy Who Loved Me". KKBB once again.

Nice stuff, though Mother seems to have regained the ability to walk!

What did you use for the tiled bases?
Back from the dead, almost.

Greetings

I love them  8)

where did you get Straker? By pure coincidence I watched an UFO episode yesterday and thought about how nice it would be to have SHADO Minis and Vehicles. Does someone make those?

Anyway I really love your Minis and recognized Mother (there was an episode where he was standing) though I didn't remember his name. The only one I have mixed feelings about is Blofeld. That has nothing to do with your painting. I somehow find Blofeld's head too round. It might also be the angle from the shot.
A heck, I'm babbling. Forget this. I like them all  :D

I think the Straker is from Crooked Dice (Man from 3000 possibly)

... Mother (there was an episode where he was standing)

In "The Forget-Me-Knot" (his first filmed appearance), Mother manoeuvres himself out of his chair by hanging onto straps on a framework above his head.  Actor Patrick Newell liked this - he had difficulty steering the wheelchair - but it was never repeated.  I can't think of any other episode in which he was upright.  If anyone can, that'd be great - it gives me an excuse not to embark on an arduous-looking conversion if I ever get round to my Avengers mini-project.

Cracking stuff, really good paintjobs.

If I could make one small comment, when you take your next set of pictures could you possibly angle the camera a bit lower, so we can see the minis more clearly from the front? The aerial view is fine, but I'd love to see more details – your painting deserves it!

Blofeld? Nah, that's the evil genius Mister Tibbles. And the guy who carries him around.  :D

Agree, really lovely paint jobs but would like to see some lower angled shots. ;)

Careful.  A thousand years here, a thousand years there, and they'll soon mount up.

Thank you so much for all the kind comments.

What did you use for the tiled bases?
I cut the tiled bases out of grid scribed plasticard. It takes more time then I'd like it to, but I'm too far into this to turn back now.

Oh, and I chose that figure for Mother because it came with Steed and Peel in a set. I'd completely forgotten that he was wheelchair bound. As you can tell, The Avengers isn't a strong subject for me. In fact, I have to admit that I liked the 1998 movie, which would get me flogged in certain circles. (Hope this isn't one of them.)

I'll try to take some better pictures soon. These photos are an embarrassment to me. I was a professional photographer years ago.
