World War Z Max Brooks: Great resource.
« on: 01 January 2008, 09:28:43 AM »
So half way through WWZ (bought it Sunday). Have to say lots of good ideas in there.

Best one so far is the idea of Phase One Alpha Teams: Delta Force dropped in to hunt G's/Zacks (zombies to you and I).

Troopers in full chem/bio suits, (before they realised that the virus wasn't airborne).

Lobo: the lobotomiser; standard issue trenching tool, (cross between a shovel and a double headed axe!).

Gunna have a lot of fun with this, once I've got my nasty nazis painted up of course! ;)

I enjoyed the book. The downed pilot could make a pretty good scenario as well. Though it wouldn't leave much room for a lot of players. Maybe it could be played solo?

Some good scenarios all round, siege of Windsor with the Hasslefree Queen Lizzie and possibly the dog corps with corgis. A good read

I've gotten quite a few ideas from that book.

I agree!!

I read that book last year, and was surprised to find his Zombie Survival Guide in my stocking this year!

That is good fun!

I thought the authors name was familiar, I have the zombie survival guide, I shall have to look out for the above.

I've only got about 50 pages left and have really enjoyed it.  A couple of my students have now read the Survival Guide and are now zombie-o-philes.  And people think Physics teachers are dorks!

While I agree the book has some excellent ideas for inspiration...I thought the book as a whole was crap.  Far too repetitive.  I really struggled to finish it.  Really hard for me to care at all about any of them.

Also, never fully enjoyed the arbitrary nature of Brooks' zeds.

I was delighted to read a chapter about German Panzergrenadiers valiantly defending the streets of Hamburg :)

Absolutely loved it! One of the few zombie books to make me feel as if I were reading a history book! The up coming film however.....not so keen....

The book and audiobook are both excellent, If you like zombies you will like this.

The movie I'm just going to ignore its title and treat it as something new.

Hmm i found it an ok read but thought it was way over hyped. I prefer the day by day armageddon books (at least the first 2 i read) as its more into the post apocalyptic survival theme.
