VSF on Venus
« on: 12 January 2008, 03:35:28 PM »
As a break from my main projects, I've also been working on some figures for gaming expeditions on Venus. My Earth forces will be French.  The first troops to be completed are from the Legion Extraterrestriale:

Figures are by Warrior miniatures. The man carrying the flag is a conversion.

Those figs are lovely. Very nice work.

I hope you don't mind me saying, but the Legion Extraterrestriale sounds to me like it should be comprised of aliens, like the Legion Etrangere was made of non-French nationals.

Would La Legion Venusien, or La Legion d'Espace be a better name?

Just a thought.

Legion Extraterrestriale is taken from the Parroom Station universe, referring to Earth troops from force similar to Legion Etrangere, but raised to fight offworld.

I had considered Legion Aerospatiale, but decided to use this name for my French aero-naval troops. Thus my Legion Extraterrestriale will be supported by an aero-naval landing party of Fusiliers Aerospatiale (this is the next unit I intend to build, using minor conversions of Boxer Rebellion French sailors).

I decided to avoid the name Venusien for my Earth Troops - I will save this name to apply to any native Venusians fighting for the French. Thus the Tirailleurs Venusien may well appear in my games at some stage.

Cytherean was the popular term for anything pertaining to Venus.

Fair enough.  :)  I can't wait to see the next lot, in that case.
