Scenario with Ju-Ju House Scenery
« on: 12 March 2012, 05:15:28 PM »
My oldest son insisted on playing a Strange Aeons scenario the other day.  I was nearing completion on another building (my Ju-Ju House) so we decided to add it to the terrain.

We rolled for a scenario and ended up with a straight up "fight" against a 21 point Lurker force.  My son's Threshold force is steadily getting better as he adds new skills to his men.

Anyway.. I decided to field "The Cult of the Black Pharoah and their Egyptian Mummy Master Neprem Ka".  I made sure I had one cultist sporting a tommygun since my son's model with a Tommygun has devasted me so many times in the past.

We started off fairly even.  My 4 models against his 3.  Due to his special ability he got to conceal one of his models (his sniper) anywhere on the map prior to play.  Unfortunately for him, I countered this sniper by gaining side advantage and placing my team just on the otherside of the building from him.  You may just barely see his sniper on the edge of the building standing on the loading dock nearest my men.

I moved my cultist Tommygunner up and covered the street while my son advanced his agents forward.  Unfortunately my son stepped his sniper out of the safety of the building that was covering him and gave my alert cultist a shot at him.  This tookthe sniper agent out in one blast and gave him a major injury (he'll return to a future game with a Hatred for cultists).

Now my son's agents appear to be at a serious disadvantage.  They are up against 4 models not the least of which is a mummy and a cultist with a thompson.  I decide to go on the aggressive and launch my attack.

His agent tommygunner takes a position at the oposite street corner while his hero takes cover in the doorway behind him.  Meanwhile I advance my entire force toward his tommygunner.  My force are all drug crazed allowing them to work under the mummy's command leadership.

Realizing that he is about to loose another agent, my son does the only thing he can and rushes his hero Mr. James to the front line to face off with the egyptian horror and madmen.

A swordcane wielding cultist quickly closes with the Smg wielding agent but not before he manages to wound the advancing mummy and kills my own the smg weilding cultist.  The swordcane weilding  cultist then knocks the agent facedown as the mummy saunders forward.

Despite the loss of my SMG cultist and my partially wounded mummy,  I feel I've got this one in the bag.  My son is forced to make a difficult desision, stay and fight with his hero and try to save his fellow agent or flee with his hero and hope he survives.

I am shocked by his determination, he chooses to hold his ground and shoot at the mummy AND HE MISSES.  MU HA HA HA!  My Son is left with only one more action and studies his character sheet carefully.  Then he does something unexpected and removes a strange occult item from his coat aquired in one of his matches long ago the lucky idol.  Sacrificing the idol, he automatically forces a success roll and shoots the mummy removing it's only remaining wound marker.

His lead agent then quickly dispatches the swordcane weilding cultist as he unsuccessfully tries to slay the fallen agent as his side.

The occult relic saved Mr. James and his fellow agents.  However, there is one remaining cultist hiding behind one of the buildings they still have to round up.

In a fanatical charge the knife weilding cultist rushes forward striking the recovered agent seconds before Mr. James blows him away.  While removed from the table, the fallen agent survives.

Mr. James finds no map pieces but adds the skill Lucky to his growing list of talents, which repalces the lost idol he used.  Curse you Mr. JAMES!!!

Here are so shots of my nearly complete Ju-Ju House buidling too.  Sorry about some of the picture quality.  The foam pieces in the doorways are used to represent doors in-game which can be opened closed or locked.  The ceromonial chamber has a really nice statue of cthulthu on a pedistal.  I still have to complete the furnature in the room immediately behind the shop.  For those who don't know.  This shop is based on one of the same name in the COC Scenario Masks of Nyalrathotep.  I've been wanting to create it for some time.  I cut a few corners making it a single story building but what the hell.  It turned out very nice.  The detail in the shop is the best I've ever done.  There are something like 43 separate brick-brack objects in the room most of which are hand crafted out of green stuff.  I wanted to make a stone covered slab pit too but found that the size of the ceromonial room and the single story nature of the building  made it unfeasible.  Now there is more room in the chamber too.  I love the wooden racks with manacles on the wall.  They are perfect to incorperate into a rescue scenario where you have to save a victim from being sacrificed to some elder nightmare.

Great looking scenery! I especially love the room with the animal hide rug and would echo the others with my cries of "more close-up shots of that please!". The game sounds epic and your son (and Mr. James) are proving to be canny and noteworthy opponents. Stiff upper lip. You will no doubt be expected to to conceive an even more nefarious scheme next time. I look forward to reading all about it...

Very nice game report. It looks like you and your boy had a great time.
Nice collection of models and scenery. I really like your Ju-Ju house.  :-*
It was an enjoyable read. Thanks for going into so much detail about what happened.

My son's a little older now and isn't as interested in wargaming as he used to be.  :(

I leave my camera at work most of the time so I have to make a special effort to take additional pictures of the scenery.  I'll try to take some detailed close-ups.

The animal hides like most of the 2 dimensional detail are printed color images.  I also added a number of African Masks on the wall of the shop interior.  You may be able to see them on either side of the curtained doorway and on the wall in some of the pictures above.  I printed the images and glued the images directly onto a thick piece of heavy card.  Then carefully cut the masks out and applied light brown paint to the edges of the masks.  The result made the masks hanging on the walls incredibly lifelike and 3-d.

I usually have about 7-8 pages of graphics per building (most of this is wallpaper, stonework, carpet and wallhangings, signs, newspapers, posters and so on.

I couldn't think of a good way to share all these graphics.  I have about 27 papges of scaled graphics which I gathered from all my previous buildings.  It's inserted to scale in a Microsoft word document and is about 8 megs.  I have a couple of screenshots of some of the graphics I used in this building.  They print incredibly detailed in the word format I have them in.  All of these images I googled and plucked off of the internet and resized them to 28mm scale.

I'll be glad to try to share anything or email the whole thing if someone is interested.  Maybe there is some way I can email it to someone and they can post a link to share it for download.

Anyway here are a few screenshots...

Try google docs, it is free and you should be able to break those into easy files. Then you can share the link for downloads. I would love to get copies of these!!!! I love the signs.

Lovely game.

Your collection of suitable images is very nice. You did a nice job collecting all these and saved us lot of time!

I think this should become sticky so, we can always have access to them!
