Ah.  That one.  Thanks.

It wasn't one of the "good ones" that I missed then.  :D

(Unlike the wife who grew up with B7 and DW, I didn't.  I still regard them as little better than panto - and the wobbly cardboard sets don't help).

Blasphemy! Burn the heretic!

I really liked "The God Complex", had bit of a "Sapphire & Steel" vibe to it.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Is this where I mention I don't really like S&S either?

:D

I watched Dr who as a kid for less than a season.  It was the Jon Pertwee years.  Then I had better things to do.

Even seeing some of the paint jobs on here, I still maintain that the only free plastic toys from the Dr Who magazines worth having are the Daleks. The rest, quite frankly, are no better than the rubbish you get from Christmas crackers.

Coming with issue 267, on sale 3 May:

The figures pictured are the same as in the previous set.  I don't know what the "surprise" is.
Back from the dead, almost.

WHY???

They must have a warehouse full of these things to get rid of.

Now if they'd like to have a go at Autons...but I suppose that was 2005...at 7 years ago [can you believe it?] it would be ancient history for the DWA readers.

And again, as Romans, in 2010.  Don't forget that all of 2005-2011 Doctor Who is on almost constant rotation on BBC3 and UK Gold and that DVDs, iPlayer etc make it almost perpetually available.

By the way, Doctor Who Adventures does make references in most issues to the 1963-1989 run (and even sometimes to the 1996 TV movie).  The latest issue features photographs of a 1963 Dalek, a 1966 Cyberman, and the third Doctor with the Brigadier from 1971, while the AAAGH comic strip features a Sea Devil (last seen in 1984), a Marshman (1980) and a Haemovore (1989).

Doctor Who makes spods of all its fans, no matter how young!

Perhaps you get one army of any of the figures shown . An army of Cyberfatguys , or Squatarens etc .

It's quite common to get a random toy week when the warehouse stock is getting low .

Hi folks

Figured I would post this stuff here rather than start a new topic.

While waiting in the cue at my local Argos I spied bags emblazoned with the Dr Who logo for the small sum of 99p. So picked up a couple and was quite chuffed with what they contained.

The first bag I opened contained a 9 piece hard plastic white supreme Dalek kit.

The details nice and crisp with only light mold lines on a couple of the parts. Its just over 40mm tall, but its base is quite large so it can clip into scenery sets like lego. Even if you cut the base down a bit its probably better suited to 32mm heroic scale than 25mm.

Daleks can also be bought in sets of 5 for £9.99. If you want to get them cheaper you can buy the single bags, but you will need to give them a good fondling to tell if it contains a Dalek  lol

The other bag contained one of those silence blokes, a nice little model but he would look a bit out of place on a gaming table.

My children discovered these.  They are woefully unavailable here in the USA.  So we have to order from Amazon.  The nice part is they scale with my kids MegaBloks figs and Lego minifigs.  Their little feet attach to Lego as well.
This is my boomstick!

I've used the 11 Doctors Character Building set to decorate the appropriate spots on my DVD shelves.  Seriously cute models.

For 28mm gaming purposes, some of the playsets might provide usable terrain pieces, if the nobbly bits aren't too obtrusive.

Character had this Dalek Saucer on display at the London Toy Fair in January:

I could make good use of THAT, nobbly bits notwithstanding.

My local Morrisons had the sets of 5 Daleks or Cybermen reduced to £1.99 last week. No use for wargaming but I bought Daleks  :D

That Dalek saucer looks great, could definitely find a use for that. I have had an idea of doing a tabletop version of UFO/X-COM, and that would make the perfect scout saucer.

The HM Forces range they do has lots interesting bits and bobs that could be converted up into sci-fi vehicles.

I am starting to feel the temptation to run a table top game using the little Doctor Who figures as they are. Does that mean as a grown man I am going to be collecting Lego again :?
