Beautiful - definitely one of your best yet. It's a great mini, but the conversion, the painting, and the base (!) take it all to another level. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Thank you all for your comments.
Spring Heeled Jack is also one of my favourite Victorian "characters". I was going to paint him with white trousers ( as per a cover I saw of a penny dreadful) but stuck with dark red leather and black.
Oh well, away for another week with work..... I'll be able to finish my new steam mech when I get back.

Oooh oooh. Is the steam mech going to follow your regular black-and-gold scheme or do you think you might try an alternate like blue, red-and-green, or green-and-red?

Still in the first build up stage at the moment, but I was considering a a nice dark green with brass fittings......
