Somewhere in Thracia, 429 BC
« on: 26 March 2012, 07:47:44 PM »
I've dug out my old Thracian army, though army is maybe too much said, they are about 60-70 figures. I've painted them about 10 years ago and seeing them again I was really not happy about the painting standard of them :) Anyway, after rebasing and some matt varnish they look a bit better. At least good enough for some gaming.

These Thracian women are the first bunch I've polished up, the rest will come bit by bit.

Nice and bright.  Very good painting, but what you produce nowadays is so much better.   :)

Nothing wrong with those figures Prof.
Would like to have them on my table to play with.

Some newly painted Thracians, my entry for the Round Two of the Lead Painters League. Most of them are from Crusader Miniatures apart from the lovely girl (Wargames Foundy). The helmed guy in the middle has got the thrusting spear and shield from Victrix plastic Hoplites box. Thinking of the Germans wearing Roman armour I've painted for the Round One of LPL, I have decided it would be a good idea to have a Thracian fighting with stolen greek weapons.

Sexy.

I have a battle group of 15/18mm Xyston Thracians in the lead pile. I was going to do them in plain colours, but once again LAF is going to encourage me to give them a little extra arttention to match these lovelies.

That is very nice work! The Greek weapons needn't have been stolen - they could also have been traded-for, or acquired while serving as a mercenary.
