more Star Wars repaints (Republican Gunship)
« on: 31 March 2012, 12:33:54 PM »
I am a confessing fan of the animated “Clone Wars” TV show.  8)
The 4th season was very much to my liking, especially the last episodes were IMO great. Enough to get me into repainting some more minis of the soft-plastic miniature mountain I have collected!
 ;) ;)

From left to right: Nightsister Sith Witch, Droid, Utapau Airborne Trooper and Scorch from the Republic Commandos - all from the Soft-plastic range by WotC

See an additional pic of Scorch and the Utapau Airborne Trooper:

Awesome work as always Agis!!

I've got a pile of these myself, I should look at doing something like this with them.

Excellent work, as usual, Agis!
 :-*

Seeing these makes me want to reread the graphic novels that heve been gathering dust for years...

How do approach these?
Do you strip them first, or just overpaint?

Asking as I have been considering a Tattoine project for some time.

Very cool! Have you seen the Genndy Tartakovsky original series? Tey are ways better imho, even though the new 3D CG ones are still nice! =)

Very nice. I'm a bit of a Clone Wars fan too.  I put a Cad Bane conversion in this years LPL (Round 3).  Great job on the repaints!  :)

looking great! I could never get in to the CGI cartoon, it just made me want to strangle Ahsoka every time she said "skyguy" and watch the cartoon network Clone Wars cartoon instead. You planning on doing any gaming with these or are they just for fun paints?

Thanks!  8)  The later series are way better IMO, espacially the whole story arc involving Asajj Ventress was very much to my liking! Ending up with Obi-Wan as allies agianst ... ;)

I will use them in some playtest games for my upcoming SF game.

Right now I am thinking about some Droids guarding an important installation and a crack team of RepCos supported by a Jedi to destroy that installation. Maybe a new scenario.

I have considered doing this to mine, but never thought it was worth the effort, VERY nice to see it can be.   :-*

The Clone Wars series has shaped up to be better than the last 3 movies combined, mostly because Lucas has stayed out of it.

Some more pics...

First some Droids, all from the dreaded Softplastic WotC Minis:

And all neatly together in a scenic shot taken on Tatooine...  ;)

(The idea to use a blurred backdrop is shamelessly stolen from the gorgeous Crooked Dice mini pictures!)

And a re-paint of one of my favourite Expanded Universe characters, Mara Jade:

All minis again from the WotC softplastic range. Mara's "bendy" Lightsaber was replaced with a small plastic rod.
