Mr. Kaiser painted a skull on Ace's back. After-all, every top secret super-spy needs a huge logo emblazoned on their coat!  ….

I believe it's required in the dress code section of The Handbook of Pulp Villainy and Unscrupulous Behavior.

where did Champ come from?

Champ came from Darkson Designs, AE-WWII: American K-9 Squad.

I may have received a bad casting, but his ears did look more like stubby horns out of the pack. It was easy enough to fix with a dab of green stuff.
