What I picked up at Salute 2012
« on: April 21, 2012, 07:22:47 PM »
A very modest haul this year:

Otherworld Beserkers
Hasslefree not-Buffy
Kallistra Dwarf Warriors
Mongoose Robot dog and Demolition robot

Managed to lose both of the club's demo games (blowing my flame cannon up the only time it fired again!)

What did you get?

  • The freebie mini (the lovely Aztec looking chap)
A freebie stapled to a hinchcliffe catalogue (something historical, I chose the one with the biggest hat)
    'Aaron', the not-Kick-Ass from Hasslefree
A handful of Star Wars Miniatures Droids
Crooked Dice Minion specialists and a couple of head sprues for conversions (one with a welding mask to put on the minion with the flamethrower, and one with some beret sporting chaps heads)
    A Skaven Jezzail, because it was £3 (they're 3 for £30 new!)
An SJS Judge (because they're awesome) as well as a couple of minis that were in a bucket on the Mongoose stand (a Sky Surfer, a Blood Bowl Skaven player and an old-school GW beastman)
Some Amera craters, because I need me some generic terrain and I was intrigued about these after seeing how nicely these vac-formed terrain pieces can look in Kevin Dallimore's book
Knight Models Boba Fett. I begrudge paying £13 for a single miniature, but then again he's absolutely beautiful (and anyway, it's cheaper than buying a less nice one from Wizards of the Coast).
A Salute bag, to store my loot.

  • A load of Scheltrum deep sea divers for a new project I'm working on.
  • A pack of Warlord Games' plastic WW2 British infantry.
  • lovely Britannia figure from the Ainsty stand (bought with the intention of using her for a statue, but I may use her for something else I have in mind ;)
  • Some movement trays from Warbases
  • A Redoubt field gun for my Boxer Rising/RJW Japanese, plus a couple of figures to finish off my 19th century French naval detachment
  • Some Litco torch bearer markers

Being involved with running a game with only half our team present meant that I didn't get a chance to do any more browsing/shopping, so I missed out on a couple of (non-essential) items on my list. However, on the plus side, this meant that i ddn't spend nearly as much as I would have done normally :)

Ok then:

Eureka:
US Recon Team
Jurrasic Reich Late war germans.

(From the rucksack of James at JJDUK):
The last set of Chinese Hopping vampires in the country plus a jade mummy.

Antenociti Workshop:

and a reasonably selection of 15mm 'stuff' from the sample box.

A bottle of VJ thinner, a deep dive in Geronimo's miscast resain bag turned up a nice selection for the bits box.

Very lucky boy! :D

Oh and the Salute free mini: missing a bloody headdress!  It's the end of the world I tell thee! >:(

My smallest haul yet, mainly concentrated on bits i needed for the LPL.
A Grand Manner Boat
3 packs of Little Big Man shield transfers
Another pack of Commando miniatures 1970's British, and some spare parts
The Commando miniatures Land Rover pre-ordered

and that is it.

Mind you I have extended my too buy list by a few items ;D
Saga Rules
Empress SAS and Taliban along with the Modern rules they are carrying (probaly my first purchase)
More Grand Manner bits. Loved the Olive press that Matakishi bought.
Lots of Crooked Dice figures and rules, just waiting for the Blake's 7 crew.
Some Eureka Rhodesians to add to my Commando miniatures SAS
Eureka French revolutionary vignettes to add to my still smouldering Napoleon in Egypt project

So this will still end up being an expensive visit. lol

I was very good this year (from my wife's point of view, not mine) due to the cost of staying over and travel etc.

Hasslefree 'Statue of Liberty'
Heresy Troopers add-on kit
3 cheap blisters from the Bring & Buy
Some freebie resin 'mis-casts from Ian of Fenris Games (although I still can't find the mis-cast on most of them)

That was it although I did pick up a Heresy pre-order so that doesn't count  ;)

28mm Dark Ages Irish army from Gripping Beast for Saga + 3 sheets of LBM decals for same. Backordered 2 more today together with 12 more Arthurian sheets. Sad isn't it?
Anglo Danish from Gripping Beast including the superb 3 figure Harold Godwinneson and his brothers set.
Some Crusader 28mm Irish.
The 'Raven' supplement for Clash of Empires.
The new Tomahawks and Musket rules for the FIW.
Missed out on the new Skraelings but 2 of our clubmembers did get them so not too bad.

Two building sets in 15mm (the refinery set and Arc Fleet houses #2) from Critical Mass- and got a VERY nice goodie bag from Craig!-
and 5 or so packs of the Praesentia shapeshifters.
Saga measuring sticks from Warbases.

A few sets of 15mm figures from Ground Zero Games, mostly civilians and the new Tomorrows War factions, plus two vehicles.

Lots of dice from Em4.

Some really nice SF resin buildings from Brigade Models.

15mm modern professionals from Peter Pig.

An Osprey 'Raid' book on the FIW.

Panic, Chaos and Disorder. My job here is done
