Replacement Weaponry.
« on: May 23, 2012, 07:35:02 PM »
I just bought some GW Warriors of Rohan from a certain international auction site but many of the weapons (especially axes) are broken and missing.  I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a source for suitable plastic replacements as I understand that the figures are in 25mm size and that 28mm weapons might be too large?

You might struggle to find anything suitably 'cheap' to replace them with. Have you considered looking into the larger 1:72 plastics? You might get something suitable amongst some DarkAge ranges there although guessing they will be a tad small. However maybe try the twohanded versions as onehanded for your Rohan chaps? Just a suggestion :)

I used a drill, some brass rod and some plastic card personally when my dwarves weapons got broken.

You used to be able to get extra swords and weapons from Gripping Beast, try them and see if it's still possible. Gripping beast aren't eactly huge minis and so whould work fine with LotR stuff.

Many thanks all for the very useful suggestions - the 1/72 Dark Age plastics hadn't even crossed my mind so I'll have to keep an eye out for some.

The drill, brass rod and plastic card I all have and so I might well give making my own a try as I'm on a bit of a budget.

The link to Gripping Beast is very handy as I wasn't even aware of them and I'll have to give their site a thorough exploration.

I've managed to overcome the broken spear problem as I have a box of Wargames Factory Skeletons which came with a large quantity of weaponry and includes a very passable Rohan spear head.

Almost forgot! Red-Box games has a weapon sprue.

Not exactly picture heavy (1/7?)

Did not purchase strictly because of that.

Gracias,

1/72's are 20mm so I wouldn't really go near those.

If you can, try and get hold of some spare Gripping Beast plastics as they look like they will be compatable, in some cases they have a hand attached to the weapon so a little bit of pinning and job done.

In Tre's defence, he only had one weapon sprue until just a few days ago. Those items without images are ones he hasn't taken delivery of yet and are part of a new release that's on preorder right now (there are placeholder pictures of the minis). So it's just bad timing - there will be pics soon enough, probably in a month or so.

Essex Miniatures also do a range of weapon packs which are 25mm, 8 for £1.87.

The Red Box Games and Essex Miniatures links are most handy and well worthy of a good look around - I must say that you chaps in Fantasy Adventures are very helpful.

I'm now off to locate some maces for my Uruk-Hai.

My bad, I missed that.
