A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

Pic yanked from Pulp Figures' site for those too lazy to go visit the link.

The Volcano Queen (and whatever other figures Bob creates to round out the pack) will finally give the Melanisian Islanders some leader figures. Can't wait! The earlier Islanders Bob did have tempted me for ages; I have boxes full of jungle terrain so adding some islanders would finally give me some locals to interfere with the various colonial powers, adventurers and safari types I have in abundance!

Above looks very promising.

The above I must have.

Very nice !! :-*

I don't think she is melanesian. The feathers hat and the weapon (a macuahuitl) makes me think about an Aztec warrior.
Anyway, she will lead my Aztec Caïman Warriors by Eureka Miniatures. :D

The Volcano Queen is probably Murch's most 'animated' figure to date.

Don't get me wrong, I like his work- I have almost the entire CoC range he did for RAFM, and lots of Pulp- but his sculpting is pretty rigid and blocky.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

"The other figures in the pack"... sigh.  I understand the business/logistical reasons for a small studio selling everything in multiples that are presumably cast together.  But it's also the reason I have yet to order anything from Pulp Figures... I don't need a whole pack of arch-villains or German sailors or Rocketeers.  I can't justify the cost just to get a few figures I really want to paint.

But Murch's lineup is amazing, if you don't mind that.  A distinctive sculpting style is always nice, and the subject matter is a lot of fun.

Split a pack with someone or "someones" perhaps?

I so agree with you Matt. I love his invention and subject matter, and the characters he creates. But just cannot get over the oddly stodgy bulk of the figures in their curiously stiff poses. I appreciate this is a style he has deliberately chosen for his own Pulp range, because if you look at other stuff he's done for other manufacturers, it's not like this.

But I agree, the Volcano Queen is much more natural than usual, and so much better for it.

I'm stunned that anyone could not like the pulp figures because of the poses! (or am I getting it wrong?)

I think - poses or not - that the figures are among the most imaginative in many aspects and an absolute treat to paint.

The poses are actually also to my liking because they don't suggest too much of something specific. I find it more anyone with very vivid and lively figures.. they often look out of place in the situation.

Ah well.. De gustibus non disputantum est as they say.  lol

I just this week returned from the fabled South Seas and I desperately need that jungle queen!  Please, Bob, drop all other projects and finish up that pack.
