Thanks guys. :)

@James

I'm working on a Samurai base. I will be picking up some of your lovely Samurai terrain this year I'm pretty sure in particular the bell tower and big drum when you put those back up.

Great work - love the composition of the base, much more realistic than the normal two ranks of troops we all seem to produce.

Now, lets see more!

Next base for my Shimazu Impetus army is Samurai charging with katanas. I painted my Samurai in strong individual colours which is in contrast to my Ashigaru's more neutral uniformed look in order to distinguish them as the true elites of my army. However, I still wanted them to look like they belong to the same army and so the shimazu mon(heraldry) remained on the sashimono's(back banners) and Nobori(large Banner) and also in the same colour which I hope succeeds in tying them together.
Thanks for viewing!  :)

Wow!

I love the use of colour on those miniatures. Is that how these guys dressed or did you just use your imagination?! Or are you exploiting the fact that no one knows?  lol

Yes indeed Samurai were very flamboyant and wore Chinese silk in various hues and colours quite often with patterns. Strong dyes were more expensive and so naturally some liked to show their wealth by wearing such. Taste was also individual with many preferring more colour coordination in their clothing while many others choosing more loud combinations so to speak.
I preferred to go more flamboyant to emphasize the distinction between the Samurai elite and the lower level Samurai(Ashigaru).
The armour combinations I decided on are indeed strong, but not over the top and are actually in the middle of road in terms of colour flamboyancy as earlier periods really went to town in lace colour combinations! :o

No sir, these are metal Perry miniatures. I prefer metal miniatures in most cases and I can firmly say my Samurai army will be all metal. ;)

Thanks James and most the colours are Foundry and some Vallejo. I used two pinks from Foundry (Nipple Pink(light) and Shadow pink(Dark))

Bear in mind when using Foundry paints I often mix A&B,B&C when needed to keep a more even tone(especially the bright colours) which I did with the pinks. ;) I'm a big fan of Foundry paints. :-*
