I've spent the afternoon putting together a photo article on my blog to show off my just-completed New Zealand Wars armies for use in 'Sharp Practice' games.

Some of you may recall pictures of some of my 28mm Empress figures in the various progress reports I've posted, but here they are altogether for the first time.

Here's a couple of sample shots from the blog:

Great work and painting on some lovely miniatures!!! Being a Kiwi myself I have pondered purchasing the Empress Maori range to paint up with facial tattoos.....definitively on my wish list.

Great to see them release such a fantastic range on a very unique war.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing how this project develops.

A gorgeous collection and it shows that you don't need huge quantities of figures for a good game.  Thanks for sharing.  :D

Great collection.  Once again your collection brings home how much I love the Empress Maori figures.

Impressive work.  The Maori clothing designs look great!  And no complaints about the Brits.   :)

The Empress New Zealand wars figures are look very nice - size wise do they work with Perry figures? Their Zulu War and SCW figures seem a  bit smaller than other 28mm ranges.

Depends on what you mean by Perry figures : like most of Paul Hicks' recent ranges, the Empress Maori war miniatures are most compatible with what Alan and Michael Perry sculpt now under the Perry Miniatures banner. They are however taller than the Perry-sculpted various Foundry colonial ranges (especially the Sikh Wars range), which tend to be more 26mm.

And as my esteemed fellow forum members said, well done on these, Roly   8)

Thank you - yes it was the more recent Perry figures I was thinking of.

Thanks for the nice comments, gents.

I'm now working on the pa fortifications.   The project started well enough, but then the glue failed and I'm back at square one.  So when I buy a better make of glue, I'll start again.
