Those are fantastic. If only I needed Chinese architecture... hold up, I do. January order marked up!

Thank you very much chaps, I'm hoping to get a couple more done over the holidays but I've made a start on a mock up of the British Legation entrance.

I think it's a little small but would like to garner the opinions of others before committing to the proper master  :)

It's only a mock up so the details aren't 100%

And here is the real thing from I believe the twenties...

cheers

James

Perhaps a little small, but that's not such a bad ting for a wargames table. Otherwise, splendid!

Looking great from here, size is a good compromise.

Looking good so far, its hard to judge just by the one photo, perhaps it is a little small, but as Bagovich says its a good compromise.

Working from the height of the guy on the left in the photo compared to the figure next to the model, I'd say there's about a head of difference between them. Rough estimate would be that the model as is would be a closer fit for 20mm figures than 25/28mm.

That said, as others have commented, I prefer terrain to be a little on the smaller side, so this is perfect for my purposes.

True scale buildings are always too big for wargames purposes I think, so I'd say its fine. Well, really more than fine of course... ;)

Thanks for the comments chaps  :)

I'll make the entrance a few mm bigger but not overly so.

I think that have the balance about right there, James.
Once the other aspects are in place, roof, sides etc. it will look much bigger anyway.
A single facing of any building is deceiving and will always make a building look smaller to the eye.

Looking forward to seeing this progress.

But the chap on the photo isn't standing on a textured base, and he may be small?

Lovely looking piece though, regardless of size issues.
I'll happily take one. If I can afford it.
Any other legation buildings planned?

Great entrance building, James! I think it has just the correct proportions for the wargames table. I hope you won't mind me showing my own version I did for our large Peking game for Crisis in 2004:

Thank you kindly gents  :)

Any other legation buildings planned?

A few I should imagine, the chap is a normal 28mm on a normal base, he's just lying down.

Not at all Michael, I've already got those pictures stored away in my reference folders  :D That is the best looking Peking game I've seen so far, great stuff  :-*

I've got an on going commission on the go at the moment and I'd though I'd show the progress because it's got me thinking on other types of buildings to include on the range. What does a town have... Shops  :)

As this one is a commission it's not really suitable for casting but its certainly given me a few headers as to how to best approach the means to produce a suitable cast version in the future.

It's only got a very light coat of primer on it to show the details in a better way and the slightly darker area to the top has just been inked to show the slatted window shutters but the idea is to have several of these next to each other but there are small side windows if they need to be stood alone.

Once again, my lack of camera skills has prevented a decent photo for the first one (I really must start to take lessons or read up on it or something  >:( ) but you should get an idea of what's going on. As its a wip commission there's still a lot of detail to go on which I shall post in due course.

cheers

James
