WWW2 Campaign/Risk/whatever
« on: 11 June 2012, 12:24:44 PM »
I wanna do a campaign based In the DUST world. Every nation will be divided into provinces/states and every state starts off with a 300 point army. There is the 3 different nations Allies, SSU and Axis controlling the various nations shown on the Maps in The Dust Warfare Core Rulebook.

I wanna have a map with the different nations and stuff thats big enough to show each nation's states with each states capital easily read and the nations capital easily read. Each State that you control earns you points each turn that you can spend on buying units to increase the size of your armies or do different actions like bombing your enemies cities and sending in spies to find out information like the placement of secret research facilities.

When a unit dies in Battle it is gone for good and doesn't respawn next turn. If you only have a 100 point unit guarding a state(that might be the minimum amount of units you must have in a state at any given time.) and you are confronted by a 3000 point army you may elect to retreat from the state without suffering any casualties and giving up the state to your opponent. I've been pondering wether to allow a 3000 point army to attack a 100 point army in full force or if you can only send in a matching amount of troops to battle, this would allow a small point armies to stand up to larger ones.

Heroes only have 1 model so you can't have the same hero in 3 different armies across the board but heroes can detach from an army and move by themselves to link up with a different army. Heroes may have a 3 strike rule meaning they can die 3 times before they're gone for good.

A research tree might also be an addition allowing you to spend points to upgrade various parts of your army like how much it costs to create a unit and how long it take etc. Research facilities can be hidden from your opponents only having them know where they are when they reach the state it's in. The final tech tree upgrade will possibly be a nuclear bomb.

A nations morale affects how many points it produces. If you win alot of battles the nation will begin producing more points but if they start losing the nation will make less points. Sending Bombers to attack a nation lowers it's morale as well as permanently killing it's heroes. I might add the assasination of big time leaders into it as well.

This is really just a brain fart that I had and may or may not amount to anything but I would like to do this any comments you have are welcome.

Have you looked at the Dust board game? From what I can tell, it's very Risk-like.

Hey Bubbles; I prepared a short guide to running campaigns that was orientated towards sci-fi but applies equally well to oterh genres of game. There's a copy of it in this thread here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=26499.msg322180#msg322180 which might provide some useful ideas.
