The Evil Toy Maker....
« on: June 14, 2012, 01:31:22 PM »
Yet another brilliant idea for an EotD faction....
Im trying to find a model that would be suitable as Mr Hamley the evil toy maker or similar...
So not really a mad doctor or scientist...
more avuncular...
more Pinocchio than Prometheus unbound...

Any ideas?

How about basing him on one the many Santa Claus models that have been produced over the years?

Professor Vassily (on the left) from Parroom Miniatures might work.

I used that one from Warmachine as my "Evil Puppeteer"

I've put also some small dolls on his base, which I had spare ;)

Great idea!  That'd be a lot of fun. Can't think of a Geppetto type mini offhand, though I do like that Malifaux one.

makes me think of the comic 'Fables'- Geppetto would make an ideal villain.

The relic Brittanians are what I'm intending to use as well....
Probably under a "graf" based list...

Evil Toy Maker as the Graf...
with maybe some Malifuax children as consorts...
and the Relic figures as thralls.... ..
Maybe even with some Malifuax puppets as bat swarms....

Should be fun!

I would also like to add, that as most lists only need say eight or ten figures, this game system is currently THE best game for thinking outside the box in what to use as models.

Take any late victorian ( factual, fantasy, steam punk, whatever ) based idea and then find the figures for it. As SO SO much of our global culture comes from that period in history the list of possible ideas is endless....

I know West Wind will add other factions, and make other models, Nemo being on the horizon, but surely the appeal to so many of us is the ability to come up with ideas and then be able to produce the faction quickly...

I can see lots of club based gaming and modelling competitions based on EotD factions over the next few years... good job the game plays quite well as well!

And I simply adore the gorilla/Greystoke based one posted last week....

Sounds to me like its time for some gratuitous self promotion:
Here are some figures that might fit your bill:

This figure has had a recent face lift. His face is now like one of those smiley masks that you often see on theatre posters.

This one is currently undergoing a re-sculpt.
