Forschungsstelle Wolfenfels

Hello!

I found this forum by chance, but was instantly wondering how I could go without it...

To introduce myself, I´d like to present my current personal miniature project (apart from some commissions, including a US gunboat):

Forschungsstelle Wolfenfels - Streng Geheim!, which is to be a Weird War 2 commando scenario more along the techfetish line, rather than the weird creatures ilk (that´s fascinating, too, but I´m just in for big stompy robots). I´ll get the two West Wind german mecha ASAP, but until then, I´ve started with painting up some older miniatures and a chance find from last weekend´s convention.

I´ve already posted threads on it at TMP and Sweetwater, but in case you´ve missed it, it won´t do any harm...

Panzerkampfanzug Wolf (Grenadier model sculpted my M. Copplestone, still available from his re-issued "Future Wars" line):

The Wachgruppe, pt. 1:

Pt. 2:

I´ll get some more Germans for Guards soon, and the mechs along with some of Schuco´s nice Kübelwagen models, and then, I´ll set out for Castle Wolfenfels itself... ideas are already forming in my mind.

More pictures of my WW2 Pulp stuff can be found in the respective gallery:

http://www.dminis.com/scratchbuilder_christian/images.html?galleryId=1105&from=World%20War%20Two%20-%20Pulp

I´ve also got some Gangsters:

http://www.dminis.com/scratchbuilder_christian/images.html?galleryId=1651&from=Pulp

and Victorian adventure stuff:

http://www.dminis.com/scratchbuilder_christian/images.html?galleryId=674&from=Victoriana

as well as a mechanical Weird West Posse:

http://www.dminis.com/scratchbuilder_christian/images.html?galleryId=671&from=The+Old+West

which you might like to see.

All feedback is greatly appreciated!

WOW, this is some great custom built stuff you have there. Although in my opinion the movie WWW sucked big time I still like the idea of this 'steampunk western stuff'. The spider is amazing, the coach brilliant.

just great

Excellent! I love those german walkers. My first impression was that they were simply perfect. Then I realized that they were a bit more hightech than I am usually into. But then I realized that the paint scheme made them perfect! Excellent work on those!

Love the westwind figs also! They are my favourite line ot be honest!

Dear Neldoreth, I also like the size of the West Wind figures, being more of a "25er-Fan", so to speak. However, their German Helmets are a bit awkward, to my mind... whereas the Field Caps are nifty as hell! Nonetheless, for further figs, I´ll get the Bolt Action stuff.

I like the bolt action stuff. I think some of the best sculpts/designs are TAG. But for the price, Westwind can't be beat ;)

They look like the helmets from the "Sturmtruppen" comics!

I think I have 1 or 2 of that robots lying around here too. Not painted them yet but this German paint scheme looks great on them.

If anybody wants to buy that robot: EM4 are selling much more weapon variants than Copplestone does.
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

I finished the second battlesuit, Panzerkampfanzug "Wolf" Ausführung A. The model originally had a rotary cannon as its main armament, and while I´m a nutter for all things that go "Gatling", it just didn´t fit with WW2, much less Germany.

So I took a brass nail and some plastic tube, removed the barrels and replaced them with a single Fla 38 20mm cannon - rat-tat-tat!

Also, as Sweetwater and TMP visitors may have noticed, I painted up one of Schuco´s SdKfz 231 8-Rad Recon Armoured Cars, which will see use as a security vehicle. A bit large for the West Wind Miniatures, it still looks good next to the Panzer Suits and would also be fine with larger 28s, like Black Tree.

More Germans for Wolfenfels!

A third Guard Group, made up of two Bolt Action Miniatures and a West Wind One.

And the chief german villains, left to right:

Oberst Fritz von Finstherlingen, Doktor Walther von Hellbraun and Herr Inschwartz, Gestapo Liaison.

Nazi Flying Saucers! Finally, our Thule Society quotient for the month is met!

Sweet work, Chris. Now, if you'd kindly let the OSS take some less blurry pictures...

@PeteMurray: special thanks for "Achtung! Gefliegentersaucen!". Definitely the best Pulp German I heard/read so far in this forum

Gruss,
