Welcome to Runissia
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:07:01 PM »
Other than historical gaming i enjoy drawing maps:

Runissia, land of mountains and center of my fantasy world. I decided recently to make some figures to represent the soldiers of this said world.
I present you first with a noble man. He will probably be a Khorv, that's to say a Kaliad noble (Kaliad is to the south of Runissia, i will draw it some time). He wears the best armour money can buy. The model is a wargames factory armoured body, perry knights arms and sallet head with miliput. Shield is plasticard.

Can't all be nobles and facny things, so here is a Runissian spearman. Directly from the WF box excpet the head with added camail.

A little group photo. The left hand figure is a Runissian captain.

More pictures and progress on my blog: http://scyldandseax.blogspot.fr/ Critical comments welcomed, i'm always looking to improve my work  ;)

Nice bit of kitbashing. The multitude of new plastic historicals that are coming out open up whole new avenues for building your unique setting.

Is the map loosely inspired by an existing nation or completely made up?

I drew the map randomly first several years ago, only realising after that it looks like Norway and Sweden. The landscape is inspired by scandanavia; fjords, mountains, pine forests...
The culture is sort of dark ages/feudal, a mix of both nordic and english. No 'knights in shiny armour' here!
