Hi,

I'd like to play solitaire dungeon crawling, a generic system.

It must include :

monsters and heroes complete roster
possibility to create our own heroes (and villains, why not)
include advanced campaign mode (levelling, experience, shops, cities)
fast and (very) simple rules but "realistic" (traps, light, etc...)

I didn't found something like that for now. I already bought dungeon and dragon adventure system boxes (castle ravenloft and wrath of ashardalon) but campaign and levelling is not as evolved as I'd like to.

Thanks for you help!

Dungeonslayers 4

English (free) pdf just released

http://www.dungeonslayers.com/

all you need in a simple system but you will need to think a little to make it solo (rooms, corridors and monster tables - but there are a million out there that could be adapted)
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

It's a role playing game, I quickly watched it, and didn't see miniatures rules in it ?

The 1st edition AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide has a random generation system everything from the layout to the furnishings and monsters.

Warhammer Quest was built with solo play in mind.  Dungeons, monsters, traps, the whole thing is card generated.

Look into the fantasy stuff by Two Hour Wargames. Their fantasy series allows for solo play, everything from dungeon delving to full armies. It's specifically designed to be used with any scale that you the player wants to use.

I would look into it at the least. There are some free downloads to give people a taste of the rules, which uses a reaction system.

Unfortunately there's no "right" answer to your question, as there still haven't been any good release covering all the aspects you list.

Song of Blades & Heroes and its expansions are probably the closest call. The recently released Tales of Blades & Heroes is an RPG based on SBH, you could try that. The main difference is the level of granularity, which I think is the only problem with SBH as a dungeon crawler. The steps up from one "level" to the next had a large impact.

There's a lot of stuff you can do with some DIY elbow grease, but no "boxed offering". Varangian's tip isn't too bad either, Warrior Heroes or whatever it's called seems to be pretty good for this kind of stuff. I bought the rules, but haven't been able to get into them.

The material for Warhammer Quest is a wonderful solo-play experience. All the monsters, treasure, even the map, is randomly generated. Or you can construct some elements and generate the rest.

dunno about solo play - but BASH! fantasy is RPG lite certainly and all the other things you mention wanting - use it for dungeon crawls very satisfactory imo.

perhaps solo gaming needs more than a solid playable rule set though?

thank for all your answers.

I'll search for the games you're talking too. To companies making games : there is a niche market in generic dungeon crawling  :D

If only something as good as super systems could exist for dungeon crawl...

Ironically, and maybe you're leading into that, the company that has done Super Systems is now doing Dungeon Delve, specifically for dungeon crawls.

Check out his blog: http://four-color-figures.blogspot.com/

He talks about a lot of different miniatures games, and topics.

Also: Two Hour Wargames is working on a more character driven fantasy wargame. The reaction system they use is fantastic, so I would suggest looking into that as well.

Four color game sounds interesting, but as it is described, perhaps solitaire will not be available in first release.

2hours games seems to allow eficient solitaire gaming, but I didn't find any dungeon crawling game in their range.

It seems that I'm searching for something really difficult to find. Diferent games exists, but none (for what I understood) include all the features I want for now.

Actually: Warrior Armies and Adventures has rules for dungeon crawls. All of their small unit, or hero, sized fantasy stuff will do crawls well.

It's a Dungeon Bash - not a lot of Role Play required

Dive in and lash out - collect XP - level up - dive back in - bash 'em up again

certainly the price is right (free)
