Neodynium magnets 3x3mm for 0.09 EUR
« on: 06 July 2012, 01:28:13 PM »
Hi folks,

I'd like to inform you about a german shop for Neodynium (rare earth) magnets that I have dealt with several times in the past couple of years.

http://www.neomagnete.com/

Like most magnet online shops and eBay sellers, it carries magnets of different forms and sizes, but the one magnet i have so far bought hundreds if not thousands of is the 3x3mm cylinder at a special price of 0.09 EUR per piece.

I have used this particular magnet for many different projects, mainly for making my paper terrain even more modular, but the possibilities are virtually endless. Consider giving these little things a try if you are building a large building from resin or similar and want to be able to break it apart easily for storage and transport, for example.

For inspiration, check out how I used them with my Mayhem City build on the World Works Games forums:

Anyway, just thought that I'd put it up here because the price is really good, I just bought another 120 magnets for about 10 EUR :)

Cheers

Robert

I have never used magnets for miniatures, I guess it depends on your drill size too. So if you have a 1mm drill, a 1x2mm cylinder should work  ???

Remember, though, that with heavier parts (like arms on a Warjack) you would need two magnets horizontally mounted, otherwise the arm or whatever will just face down all the time ;)

Not necesseraly, neodymium magnets are very very powerful.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons,
for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Yes, I don't mean that the arm would fall off, but rather that it will turn along it's axis (which is the small, smooth magnet) so that the part of the arm that is the heaviest will face downside :) They may be strong, but they have very little friction between two of them.
